After 25 years of racing (10 as a Professional Duathlete),
2018 was all about transition. I started this sport at the time
when big name triathletes—Mark Allen, Kenny Souza, Jeff
Devlin, Greg Welch, Karen Smyers and others were doing
high profile and long distance duathlons, as well as triathlons.
They understood the value of the training and strength that
duathlons gave them for their tri’s. I am going to put that
same work and knowledge to use for myself. Heading into
2019 and beyond, I will be doing longer duathlons, that are
high profile: Nationals, Powerman AZ, 8 hours of duathlon,
mixed with long course triathlons (70.3s and Ironman) with
the goal of heading to Kona. These goals necessitated a
coaching change, and I couldn’t be happier. Or hungrier.
Being 100% healthy post rhabdomyolysis gives me that
needed “all clear” to get to work.
