Hello!I'm an MD/PhD student at Northwestern University, where I'm finishing up my PhD in chemistry before I return to medical school. When I'm not doing science, I'm a professional triathlete and sports physiology junkie.
My journey to triathlon started in 2012 after graduating Northwestern University (undergrad) where I'd swam for 4 years (IM/mid-distance). After being a competitive swimmer my whole life, I didn't know what to do next! So, I signed up for the Chicago Triathlon on a dare from a friend. Lo and behold...I loved it. So I began the long transition from fly/back/breast/free to swim/bike/run.
Over the next few years, my boyfriend and I started to do more and more endurance races. It wasn't just the Chicago triathlon (though we did that every year!), we competed in the 2014 Capitol Hill Couples Triathlon and the 2016 Lake Chabot Trail Marathon. He pushed me to race and train faster and faster until I won USAT AG nationals in 2016/17. After winning the ITU Age Group World Championships in 2017, I decided to explore life as a professional triathlete.
2018 was an exciting year where I managed to place in each of my four professional races. On top of that, I returned to take the title of my hometown Chicago triathlon where I finished in a PR.
