I ran in Cross Country when I was in High School, but stopped around my Junior year and just never got back into running or sports ... until 2010 when I joined the OC Roller Girls and started Skating Roller Derby. It only lasted 4 years before I retired after having my daughter. Then in 2015, I somehow talked myself into running a Disney Half marathon. I've been running since. 2017 was my most active running year, having completed the OC Beach Cities Challenge and well over 25 5ks. I stopped running again in the beginning of 2018 because of my health. Asthma, borderline diabetic, bad cholesterol and I was extremely overweight. In June, I decided to take action and began my weight loss transformation by completing a series of challenges. After 2 full challenges (13 weeks) and lots of healthy food options, meal prepping and HIIT/Circuit training gym sessions, I lost 50.2 lbs. Then in another 6 weeks of more training, lost 4.1% body fat. After all this, I completed my first Spartan Trifecta, PR'd my 5k by 24 minutes, PR'd my 10k by 28 minutes and PR'd my Half by 40 minutes!! Goals for 2019 are to PR another 16 minutes off my half, Earn a Double Spartan Trifecta, complete a Spartan Hurricane Heat, Complete a Spartan Ultra & Complete the Beach Cities Challenge. Can't wait!
